The Automated Attendant software, among others equipped with Voice Response and ACD functionality, is designed to efficiently answer incoming calls for the main office number. Calls are answered on the first ring basis on: time of day, day of week, week of month and or month of year. The software welcomes the caller and transfers the caller to an extension or group number. On no answer or a busy signal, the caller is put on hold in order of receipt and provided with music on hold and / or a position announcement. After X period the caller is presented with a self-service menu that allows the caller to transfer to a particular department. In the evening, weekend or holidays an alternate routing menu may apply.
